What is the pledge?
It is a grassroots campaign to encourage the burlesque community and all performers to begin phasing out the use of feathers in entertainment. The reason to condemn feather usage in costumes, fashion, and fans is because the procurement of feathers involves cruel methods and bird slaughter. The goal of this reform campaign is to have completely feather-free entertainment by 2025.
Entertainment does not need to include animal cruelty. Please join me in this effort to bring kindness and compassion into entertainment, by using or buying costumes and props that are made with feather alternatives. Request that your wardrobe makers seek out materials such as faux pampas and tulle.
